World Environment Day is recognized on the 5th of June each year. The need is to improve global awareness about our environment. Each year it is hosted by several nations worldwide with various themes.
The theme of the 2016 World environment day was “GO WILD FOR LIFE” - it called for us to all fight against the illegal trade in wildlife which has lead to a lot of species going on extinct.
We reached out to over 5,000 students, in 10 school in Lagos State through our Youths for Green Economy Essay and Art Competition to mark the 2016 World Environment Day Celebration, which was aimed at mitigating the spread of diseases, raise awareness on the benefits of environmental conservation, effects of improper solid waste disposal, wealth opportunities in waste and instil sustainable waste management culture in children.
The students were excited to receive Certificates, SHOPRITE shopping vouchers, and various gift items from MTN Nigeria, May & Baker (Mimee Noodles) and NobleDiv.
