The theme for the World Environment Day (WED) 2015 was Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care. The tone for the years’ event was informed by the rising population and evidence that people are consuming far more natural resources than what the planet can sustainably provide.
The event created an opportunity to further channelize the enthusiasm in the youth in a proper direction and use it as an effective tool for them to realize the power they have to become agents of CHANGE in support for sustainable and equitable development.
They were enlightened on the benefits of recycling, dangers of improper refuse disposal, its effect on the environment and advised on the need for them to always Love, Protect and help save their environment from global warming.
Students from various schools that took part in the Essay Writing and Art Drawing competition were awarded gift items.
