JPG Adebiyi Empowerment Foundation, recognizing the importance of local expertise and community trust, carefully selected Mfon Edet Educational Foundation as a partner for the medical outreach program tagged VISION CARE MEDICAL OUTREACH, in Ikpe Ikot Nkon, Ini LGA, Akwa Ibom State.
Mfon Edet Educational Foundation’s proven track record of delivering effective community programs and their deep understanding of the local context made them an ideal partner.
Through this collaboration, JPG Adebiyi Empowerment Foundation leveraged Mfon Edet Educational Foundation’s local knowledge and networks to ensure the program’s cultural relevance and effectiveness. Together, they designed and implemented a comprehensive medical outreach program that addressed the specific health needs of the community.
The collaboration enabled the organizations to pool their resources, expertise, and networks, resulting in a more impactful and sustainable program. By working together, they are able to reach a larger number of people, provide essential healthcare services, and promote health awareness in the community.

Eye Health Statistics in Nigeria:

  • Approximately 24 million people live with vision loss, and 1.3 million are blind
  • 50 million people have non-vision impairing eye conditions needing basic eye care services
  • Nearly 4% of Nigerians have Diabetes Mellitus, with over 20% at risk of diabetic retinopathy
  • Glaucoma affects about 4% of people aged 40 years and above

Causes of Eye Issues:

  • Uncorrected refractive errors
  • Cataracts
  • Glaucoma
  • Diabetic retinopathy
  • Age-related macular degeneration
  • Corneal opacities
  • Trachoma and onchocerciasis (neglected tropical diseases)

  • Free eye check-ups
  • Free eye drops
  • Free glasses
  • Free surgeries
  • Blood pressure and sugar level screening
